The Olivet College men's soccer team fell, 2-1, to Manchester (Ind.) College today in Olivet.
The Spartans scored first in the 17th minute. Olivet (2-2) tied the game at 1-1 in the fifth minute of the second half when sophomore Josh Van Wagner (Jackson/Lumen Christi) converted a penalty kick goal. Manchester took the lead by scoring a goal just over three minutes later.
For the game, the Comets outshot the Spartans, 20-11. Andrew Evans (Eastport/Petoskey), Marcus Matthews (Buckley) and Mike May (Mason) each took three shots. In goal, sophomore Ethan Felsing (Mason) had four saves.
Olivet next plays Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15-16, at the Wilmington (Ohio) College Kiwanis Classic. On Saturday, the Comets play the host Quakers at 7:30 p.m., followed by a game Sunday afternoon against Macalester (Minn.) College.
