The Olivet College men's soccer team defeated Denison (Ohio) University, 2-0, today in Olivet.
Sophomore Josh Van Wagner (Jackson/Lumen Christi) broke a 0-0 tie by scoring off a penalty kick in the 59th minute. The PK was set-up after freshman Colin Yake (Plainwell) was shoved in the box. Freshman Mike May (Mason) added the second goal with just under 20 minutes left in the game. Off a free kick by Yake, May used his back to deflect the ball past the goalkeeper.
May finished the game with four shots. Van Wagner and junior Andrew Evans (Eastport/ Petoskey) each had three shots. Sophomore Ethan Felsing (Mason) made five saves, while facing 12 shots.
Olivet is back in action Friday, Sept. 7, when it hosts Concordia (Ill.) University at 5:30 p.m.
