Men’s soccer team loses to MIAA-leader Calvin, 6-1
The Olivet College men’s soccer team suffered a 6-1 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Calvin College today at Zuidema Field in Grand Rapids.

The Olivet College men's soccer team suffered a 6-1 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Calvin College today at Zuidema Field in Grand Rapids.
After the two teams combined to score five goals in the first 19 minutes, there were only two goals scored in the final 61 minutes. The Knights scored the first three goals in the seventh, 10th and 14th minutes of play. The Comets got on the scoreboard in the 18th minute when sophomore Josh Van Wagner (Jackson/Lumen Christi) took a cross from freshman Mike May (Mason) and booted a shot to the left post.
Calvin ended the scoring flurry with goal in the 19th minute to make the score 4-1. The Knights closed the scoring with goals in the 56th and 63rd minutes of play.
For the game, Olivet had nine shots, including two for Van Wagner. Sophomore Ethan Felsing (Mason) faced 23 shots and collected 10 saves.
The Comets are back in action Tuesday, Oct. 23, when they host Hope College, at 4 p.m.
