Olivet College freshman forward Mike May (Mason) has been named to the 2007 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team for men's soccer. In addition, senior Andy Lansang (Rock Springs, Wyo) was selected the recipient of the Dr. Marvin Zuidema Award. All-MIAA honors are based on a player's stats during the 14-game league schedule.
During MIAA play, May scored four goals and tallied a team-leading five assists for 13 points, which ranked him ninth in the MIAA. He took a team-high 40 shots, including 23 on-goal, and scored the game-winning goal at Tri-State (Ind.) University Oct. 13. For the entire season, May led the Comets with 26 points (10 goals and six assists).
Lansang finished the season with two assists, including one during MIAA play. The Zuidema award is presented to a senior for his contributions to team play, leadership qualities, demonstration of ethical virtues and excellence in athletics and academics. Named in honor of Dr. Marvin Zuidema, longtime men's soccer coach and athletic director at Calvin College.
Olivet ended the 2007 season with a 7-13 overall record and was fifth in the MIAA with a 5-9 mark.
