Olivet College’s Jewell selected MIAA Men’s Golfer of the Week
FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College freshman Connor Jewell has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men’s Golfer of the Week.
FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College freshman Connor Jewell has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Golfer of the Week.
Jewell posted a two-round total of 168 strokes at the Bluffton (Ohio) University Spring Invitational at the Hidden Creek Golf Course in Lima, Ohio. In the second round, he carded a career-best 79 on the par 72 course. The round included birdies on the par 5, 485-yard No. 4, and par 4, 400-yard No. 7.
"Connor's been working really hard, trying to improve his swing," said Olivet head men's golf coach Bill Maas. "So, it's nice to see him get a positive result and some evidence that all his work is going to pay off."
Jewell and the Comets are back in action Saturday at the Trine (Ind.) University A.C. Eddy Invitational. The one-day, 18-hole event at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana, gets started at 1 p.m.
