Men’s golfers tie for fifth-place at Vic Cuiss Intercollegiate
The Olivet College men’s golf team posted a 328 team score to tie Adrian College for fifth-place today at the Albion College/Vic Cuiss Intercollegiate at The Country Club of Jackson.
JACKSON, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team posted a 328 team score to tie Adrian College for fifth-place today at the Albion College/Vic Cuiss Intercollegiate at The Country Club of Jackson. Alma College took first-place with a 313, followed by Albion College, 316; Calvin College, 322; and Spring Arbor University, 323.
Junior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) carded a 79 on the par 72, 6,763-yard layout, to lead Olivet. Sophomore Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) was next with an 81, while junior Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) had an 85. Senior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) completed his round in 85 total strokes. Freshman Tylar Blosfield (Valparaiso, Ind.) was one stroke behind with an 86. Sophomore Martin Holdren (New Bremen) played as individual scorer and shot an 85.
Olivet will travel to Angola, Ind., Saturday to participate in the first round of the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Playoff at the Zollner Golf Course. By virtue of finishing fourth in the fall league standings, the Comets are able to compete in the playoff. The school with the lowest cumulative score after the three playoff rounds will receive the MIAA's automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships.
