Men’s golf team finishes in eighth-place at Barclay Invitational
The Olivet College men’s golf team finished in eighth-place at the 2012 Ted Barclay Invitational, hosted by Denison (Ohio) College and played at the Granville Country Club in Granville, Ohio.
GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Olivet College men's golf team finished in eighth-place at the 2012 Ted Barclay Invitational, hosted by Denison (Ohio) College and played at the Granville Country Club in Granville, Ohio.
After posting a 330 team in Saturday's first round, the Comets improved by 14 strokes today with a 316 for a two-round total of 646 strokes. Ohio Wesleyan University overcame a three-stroke deficit entering today's round to capture the team title with a 612. The host Big Red were second at 615, followed by Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) College in third at 618. Columbus (Ohio) State Community College and Point Park (Pa.) University tied for fourth with 621s and Muskingum (Ohio) University was seventh at 629.
Junior Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) paced Olivet with a two-day total of 156 (77-79) strokes to be a part of a five-way tie for 15th-place in the player standings. Junior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) improved by one stroke today for a 159 (80-79). Sophomore Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) shaved 12 strokes off his first round score with a 162 (87-75). Senior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) carded a 169 (86-83). Sophomore Martin Holdren (New Bremen) went 89 and 94 for a two-round total of 183 strokes.
Freshmen Tylar Blosfield (Valparaiso, Ind.) and Jake Maas (Olivet) were individual scorers. Blosfield shot an 85 and 86 for a 171, while Maas had a 94 and 100 for a 194.
Olivet will next play in the Albion College/Vic Cuiss Intercollegiate Tuesday, April 10 at The Country Club of Jackson.
