Men’s golfers place sixth at MIAA Jamboree #6
The Olivet College men’s golf team placed sixth at the MIAA Jamboree #6 today at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
WEST OLIVE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team placed sixth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #6 today at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
The Comets finished with a 314 team score, which was one stroke behind fifth-place Albion and four behind fourth-place Trine. Hope used its home course to an advantage, winning the jamboree with a 298. Calvin was second at 307, followed by Alma at 309.
Freshman Kory Roberts (Battle Creek/Lakeview) topped Olivet with a 74, with 37s on the front and back nine. Sophomore Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) and senior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) both shot a 79. Julian had a 40 on the front nine and a 39 on the back nine, while Sich had the reverse, 39 on the front and 40 on the back. Junior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) and junior Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) each carded an 82.
With two jamborees left on the schedule, Olivet sits in fifth-place in the overall standings with 1,858 total strokes. Hope has an 18 stroke lead over Alma, 1,835-1,853. Adrian and Trine are tied for third at 1,857. Behind the Comets are Calvin 1,861; Albion 1,897; and Kalamazoo 2,005. Roberts is tied for third in the individual standings, and just three total strokes behind the leader.
The seventh jamboree is not until next Monday, Oct. 3, at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids. The final one is Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian.
