Roberts earns medalist honors at MIAA Jamboree #5
Freshman Kory Roberts (Battle Creek/Lakeview) earned medalist honors, and the Olivet College men’s golf team finished in second-place at the MIAA Jamboree #5 today at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
ANGOLA, Ind. – Freshman Kory Roberts (Battle Creek/Lakeview) earned medalist honors, and the Olivet College men's golf team finished in second-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #5 today at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
The Comets had a 296 team score, which was just two strokes behind team champion Calvin. Trine was third at 300, followed by Alma 301, Hope 303, Adrian 306, Albion 306 and Kalamazoo 324.
Roberts shot a one-under par 70, with a 35 on the front and back nine. Junior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) tied for 11th in the player standings with a 74. Senior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) was one stroke behind in 15th with a 75. Sophomore Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) needed 77 strokes to complete his round. Junior Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) rounded Olivet's lineup with an 81.
With today's finish, the Comets move into a tie with Alma for third-place in the MIAA seasonal standings. Both schools have totaled 1,544 strokes. Adrian continues to lead, but has only a 7-stroke lead over Hope: 1,530-1,537. Behind Olivet is Trine 1,547; Calvin 1,544; Albion 1,584; and Kalamazoo 1,669.
The next MIAA Jamboree will be Monday, Sept. 26, at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
