Men’s golf team places fourth at MIAA Jamboree #1
The Olivet College men’s golf team placed fourth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #1 today at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
MARSHALL, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team placed fourth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree today at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. Today's round was the first of eight league jamborees. At the conclusion of the eight rounds, the school totaling the lowest score will win the 2011 MIAA championship.
The Comets posted a 329 team score, which was just eight strokes behind team champion Trine (Ind.), two strokes behind second-place Alma and one stroke behind third-place Adrian. Albion and Hope tied for fifth with 330s, followed by defending MIAA champion Calvin in seventh with a 335, and Kalamazoo in eighth with a 379.
Freshman Kory Roberts (Battle Creek/Lakeview) and junior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) were each part of a tie for sixth-place in the player standings with an 80. Ironically, each shot a 38 on the front nine and 42 on the back nine. Sophomore Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) carded an 83, while junior Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) rounded out the Olivet scorers with an 86. Senior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) completed his round in 88 strokes.
The second MIAA Jamboree will take place at Alma's home course, Pine River Country Club, Saturday. The shotgun start is set for noon.
