The Olivet College men's golf team stands in a tie for second-place after the first day of the Ted Barclay Invitational hosted by Denison (Ohio) University. The invitational is being played at the Granville Golf Course.
The Fighting Comets tallied a team score of 303 strokes to tie the College of Wooster (Ohio). Ohio Wesleyan University leads the 16-team field with a team score of 300 strokes.
Leading the way for Olivet is junior Mike Dinner (Oakville, Ontario/St, Ignatius of Loyola) with a three-over par 74. He is followed by junior Jon Stapleton (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville-Trafalgar) with a 75, junior Stew Halstead (Kelowna, British Columbia/Mount Boucherie) with a 76, junior Andrew Wismer (Thornhill, Ontario/Thornhill Secondary) with a 78 and junior Jeff Jardine (Collingwood, Ontario (Collingwood Collegiate) with an 83.
Following tomorrow's second round, Olivet will compete in the Tri-State University Invitational on Wednesday, April 14, at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
