Olivet College men’s basketball vs. Albion to serve as Zero Waste Game

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's basketball game vs. Albion College on Saturday, Feb. 14, has been designated as a Zero Waste Game. For a second time this academic year, senior Josh Kofflin is organizing a Zero Waste event at an athletic event. Members of The Guild and Earthbound will be assisting Kofflin with this initiative. Game time from The Cutler Event Center is 7:30 p.m.
The purpose of the Zero Waste project is to recycle, compost, reuse or donate any materials used during the match. Fans will be asked to place their recyclables such as hard plastics, game programs and other papers inside the blue and green bins at The Cutler Event Center during the match. You are also encouraged to wear green to the game.
"We had a lot of success with our first Zero Waste event at the volleyball match during the fall," said Kofflin. "We hope to do even better at this basketball game. The goal is to keep more than 70 percent of the trash during the game out of the land fill and taken to the local recycling center. Doing so is a great way to follow the 'I am responsible for contributing to the quality of the physical environment' principle of the Olivet College Compact."
