Men’s basketball team loses to Hope, 108-57
The Olivet College men’s basketball team lost to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Hope College, 108-57, tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's basketball team lost to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Hope College, 108-57, tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.
The Comets led by four points, 12-8, at the 14:29 mark of the opening half. From there, the Flying Dutchmen went on a 7-2 run to regain the lead, and they did not relinquish it for the rest of the game.
Freshman Kevin Woodson (Lambertville/Monroe St. Mary Catholic) was the lone Olivet player in double figures with 15 points on 5-of-14 shooting, including four three-pointers. Sophomore Eddie Rogers (Saginaw/Carrollton) contributed nine points, with 5-of-6 shooting from the charity stripe. Freshman R.J. Haas (Albion) grabbed a game-high six rebounds.
Five Hope players reached double figures in the scoring column. Sam Otto came off the bench to score a team-leading 16 points. Alex Eidson and Ben Gardner each scored 15. Harrison Blackledge and Brock Benson pulled down five rebounds apiece.
The Comets travel to play Albion College Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
