Men’s basketball team picked sixth in MIAA preseason poll
The Olivet College men’s basketball team has been picked sixth in the 2013-14 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's basketball team has been picked sixth in the 2013-14 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Comets received 37 points, which was four more than Kalamazoo College and 10 more than Albion College. Defending MIAA regular season and tournament champion Calvin College received six first-place votes and eight points to be selected as the preseason favorite. Hope College received the other two first-place votes to be selected second. Adrian College was third, followed by Trine (Ind.) University in fourth and Alma College in fifth.
Led by second-year Head Coach Chris Coles and junior Blake Krum (Schoolcraft), Olivet opens the 2013-14 season Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15-16 at the University of Wis.-Platteville Gabe Miller Classic. The Comets play University of Wis.-La Crosse Friday night at 6 p.m. ET and the host Pioneers Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET. Olivet's MIAA-opener is Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Adrian College at 7:30 p.m.
