Barnett named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week
FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore running back Cortaveon Barnett has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Offensive Player of the Week.
FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore running back Cortaveon Barnett has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Offensive Player of the Week.
Barnett accounted for four of the six touchdowns in the Comets' 42-23 season-opening win at Eureka (Ill.) College. He rushed nine times for 185 yards and three touchdowns, as well as caught two passes for eight yards and a touchdown. Barnett's touchdown runs covered 55, 36 and 75 yards. The 75-yard run was on the first play of the second half and is the longest run by an Olivet player since an 80-yard rush by Edric Miller on October 23, 2010.
The Comets host Manchester (Ind.) University Saturday for its home-opener. Kick-off from the Cutler Athletic Complex is scheduled for 1 p.m.
