Sophomore offensive guard Josh Van Laan (Caledonia/South Christian) has been named to the 2004 Don Hansen Football Gazette NCAA Division III All-American Football third-team.
Van Laan advanced to the national ballot after being selected to the 2004 Football Gazette All-North region first-team. He helped block for the Fighting Comet Wing-T offense, which led all NCAA divisions in rushing at 417.1 yards per game (ypg). The Comets also ranked among the NCAA Division III leaders in total offense (493.1 ypg) and scoring offense (45.8 points per game). In addition, Van Laan was a 2004 first-team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association pick.
