Baseball team falls to Trine, 4-2
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game before allowing two late runs to come up short against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Trine (Ind.) University, 4-2, this afternoon at Cutler Athletic Complex.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game before allowing two late runs to come up short against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Trine (Ind.) University, 4-2, this afternoon at Cutler Athletic Complex.

Records: Olivet 5-12 overall, 0-3 MIAA; Trine 8-10 overall, 3-0 MIAA
- There was no scoring until the sixth inning when the Thunder plated two runs.
- The Comets leveled the score in the seventh inning. Senior Logan Sella laced a double the right field line. After the second out was recorded, junior James Harris hit a two-run home run.
- Trine scored what proved to be the winning runs in the eighth inning.
- Olivet did bring the go-ahead run to the plate in the home half of the eighth but failed to score any runs.
- Olivet had five hits.
- Sella was 2-for-4 with a double and single.
- The other hits were Harris' home run and singles by seniors Matt Hewitt and Trevor Savage.
- Senior Hunter Henson was charged with the pitching loss after yielding the four runs (two earned) on four hits over eight innings. He struck out five batters.
- Sophomore Alex Rose tossed a scoreless inning of relief.
- Brenden Warner went 2-for-3 with a double and single.
- Gary DeMartino also hit a double.
- Dalton Nikirk registered the fourth Thunder hit.
- Cole Decker earned the win in relief of starter Cam Nagel.
- Nagel started on the mound but did not factor in the decision, allowing two runs on four hits over six and two-thirds innings. Decker pitched one and two-thirds innings, giving up just one hit.
- Noah Brettin needed only two pitches in the ninth to pick-up the save.
- Olivet hosts Albion College Tuesday, April 5. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
