Olivet College’s Clark named MIAA Position Player of the Week for baseball
Olivet College senior catcher/first baseman Austin Clark (Ossineke/Alpena) has been the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Position Player of the Week for baseball.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior catcher/first baseman Austin Clark (Ossineke/Alpena) has been the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Position Player of the Week for baseball.
Clark posted a .333 batting average (6-for-18) in six MIAA games last week. He collected at least one hit in five games, and collected six total RBI. In a 6-3 loss to Kalamazoo College, Clark drove in three runs. In his final collegiate game, he went 2-for-4 with two RBI in a 9-1 win over the Hornets.
Clark, who is being honored for the first time in his career, finished the 2012 season with a .294 batting average and tied the Olivet single-season record with 14 doubles. He also recorded a team-high 22 RBI and .422 slugging percentage. Splitting time defensively between first base and catcher, Clark made only nine errors in 217 chances for a .959 fielding percentage. He also allowed only four passed balls and threw out 13 base runners.
