Baseball team loses to Rose-Hulman, 4-2, in season-opener

Olivet scored a run in the top half of the first inning. Rose-Hulman answered with a run in its half of the first. After the Comets took the lead back, 2-1, in the home half of the third inning, the Engineers, again, answered with a run in the bottom half. Rose-Hulman took the lead for good with two runs in the sixth inning.
For the game, Olivet had six hits. Offensively, senior Ryan Hodges (Swartz Creek) was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, a double and stolen base. On the mound, sophomore Sean Alexander (Fenton) was tagged with the loss. He threw five innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits. He struck out three and did not walk a batter. In relief, junior Tyler Kelly (Marshall) pitched two scoreless innings, while sophomore Braydon LaFramboise (Flushing/Mt. Morris) pitched a hitless inning.
The Comets will continue play in Florida and will face University of Pittsburg at Greensburg for a doubleheader tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
