The Olivet College baseball team ended its season with a doubleheader split against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival against Hope College this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. After losing the first game, 16-6, the Comets won the second game, 13-1.

Baseball team splits doubleheader at Hope

The Olivet College baseball team split a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader against Hope College this afternoon at Boeve Field in Holland. The Comets won the first game, 9-3, and lost the nightcap, 5-4 in 10 innings.

The Comets won the first game, 5-3, which was completed after being suspended April 10 because of rain. Olivet won both games of the rescheduled doubleheader by one run, 2-1 and 4-3.

The Comets won the first game, 9-1, behind a complete game pitching performance from David Pembroke (Bay City/John Glenn). In the second game, Olivet won, 5-4, in 10 innings when senior Eric Quinn (Port Huron/Northern) hit a sacrifice fly to score junior Ryan Hodges (Swartz Creek) with the winning run.

Behind two complete game pitching performances, the Olivet College baseball team swept a doubleheader from Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Tri-State (Ind.) University, 6-5 and 4-1, today in Olivet. Due to poor field conditions in Angola, the doubleheader was played in Olivet, so Tri-State was treated as the home team. With the sweep, the Comets win the weekend series against the Thunder.
