Pembroke named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

Olivet College junior Dave Pembroke (Bay City/John Glenn) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Pitcher of the Week.
Pembroke had a 1-1 record in his two starts last week. In a 3-2 loss against Alma College April 24, he allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits, while striking out three and walking two. In a 2-0 complete game victory against Tri-State (Ind.) University April 29, Pembroke gave up five hits, striking out two and walking two batters.
For the season, Pembroke is first among the starting pitchers with a 3.32 ERA in 43 and one-third innings. He has struck out 19 batters and opponents have a .260 batting average against him.
Pembroke and the Comets (13-20, 7-17 MIAA) are back in action today when they travel for a non-conference doubleheader at Eastern Michigan University, beginning at 5 p.m. Olivet will conclude its MIAA schedule Friday and Saturday with a four-game series against Hope College. Friday's doubleheader will be played in Olivet at 2 p.m., while Saturday's games will be at Hope's Buys Athletic Field, starting at 1 p.m.
