Williams named MIAA Pitcher of the Week
Sophomore Evan Williams (Detroit/Notre Dame H.W.) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Pitcher of the Week for April 4-10. An Olivet player is receiving an honor from the MIAA for the third consecutive week.
Sophomore Evan Williams (Detroit/Notre Dame H.W.) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Pitcher of the Week for April 4-10. An Olivet player is receiving an honor from the MIAA for the third consecutive week.
In the first game of a doubleheader against Alma College April 9, Williams pitched a complete game, one-hitter as the Fighting Comets defeated the Scots, 18-1. He allowed an unearned run while striking out seven batters and walking two. Williams had a no-hitter through four innings.
For the season, Williams has a 2-1 record and 4.71 ERA in 21 innings. He has struck out 20 batters and opponents have a .218 batting average against him.
Olivet (14-10, 4-5 MIAA) will host Aquinas College Wednesday in a non-conference game at 1 p.m. Following that game, the Comets will play a MIAA series at Calvin College April 15-16. On Friday, the teams will play a nine-inning contest at 4 p.m. and on Saturday, the teams will play two seven-inning games beginning at 1 p.m.
