Baseball Team Loses Twice Against Adrian College, 4-2 and 4-3
The Olivet College baseball team lost two games against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Adrian College today. The Fighting Comets fell 4-2 in the first game, and 4-3 in the second game.

OLIVET, Mich. -- The Olivet College baseball team lost two games against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Adrian College today. The Fighting Comets fell 4-2 in the first game, and 4-3 in the second game.
In the first game, Olivet (5-11, 0-3 MIAA) trailed 4-0 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. The Comets scored two runs and left the bases loaded to end the game.
Both junior second baseman Joe Richards (Galesburg/ Augusta High School) and sophomore right fielder Matthew Hurley (Sault Ste. Marie, Canada/White Plains) were two-for-two with a run scored. Richards also drove in one of the Olivet runs. Senior designated hitter Thomas Stowe (Middlefield, Ohio/ Cardinal High School) also had a pair of hits. On the mound, junior Josh Kellogg (Morley Stanwood High School) tossed seven innings. He allowed three base hits and struck out nine batters.
In the second game, the Comets tallied a run in the first, third and fourth innings before the Bulldogs rallied with two runs in the fifth inning for the win.
Junior centerfielder Beau Locker (Coldwater/Union City High School) was two-for-two with a run scored, run batted-in and stolen base. Senior shortstop Steve Held (Brampton, Ontario/Saint Augustine), junior leftfielder Richard Strain (Livonia Churchill High School) and freshman third baseman Stan Cieslak (Troy Avondale High School) each had a single. Sophomore Russ Kimball (National City/Tawas High School) picked-up the loss after pitching the first five innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out three.
Olivet will next play on Tuesday, April 1, when it plays a single game at Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana at 2 p.m.
