Locker named MIAA Position Player of the Week

OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College junior centerfielder Beau Locker (Coldwater/Union City High School) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Position Player of the Week. Locker is being honored for the second time this season.
Locker batted .615 (eight-for-13) as the Fighting Comets swept a three-game MIAA series at Albion College on May 2 and 3. He had a triple, scored five runs and drove in two more.
For the season, Locker leads the team in hitting at .430. He also leads Olivet with 58 base hits, 31 RBIs, 37 runs scored, 14 doubles, .630 slugging percentage and .975 fielding percentage (two errors in 81 chances). Locker is tied for first with three triples and is second with three home runs and 17 stolen bases.
Locker ranks second in the MIAA in hitting at .463 (25-for-54). He leads the league with 21 runs scored and 25 base hits and shares the league lead with six doubles.
Locker and the Comets (22-15, 11-4 MIAA) will host Hope College in a key three-game MIAA series on Wednesday-Thursday, May 7 and 8. Wednesday's single nine-inning game will begin at 4 p.m., and the doubleheader on Thursday will start at 1 p.m. Hope is in first place with a 14-1 MIAA mark, and Olivet is second. With a series sweep, the Comets would receive the MIAA's automatic berth for the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
