DeBruyn named head tennis coach at Olivet College
Andrew DeBruyn has been named head tennis coach at Olivet College, according to announcement by Dave Sichterman, director of athletics.
OLIVET, Mich. -- Andrew DeBruyn has been named head tennis coach at Olivet College, according to announcement by Dave Sichterman, director of athletics. DeBruyn will oversee both the women’s program, which is currently a varsity sport, and the men’s program, which has been reinstated for the 2014-15 academic year. He begins his duties Monday, March 3.
“I am excited and honored to be the new head coach at Olivet College,” said DeBruyn. “I am looking forward to building the tennis program through training, hard work and commitment.”
DeBruyn comes to Olivet after serving as a the head varsity boys and girls tennis coach at Mona Shores High School in Muskegon since 2012. He helped the programs gain a Top 10 state ranking, with the boys finishing the best record in school history last fall. During that time, DeBruyn has also been the head tennis pro at Norton Pines Athletic Club in Spring Lake. While there, he taught lessons to players of all ages, including high performance to elite players.
DeBruyn earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation and leisure management from Spring Arbor University in 2012. He was a member of the Cougar tennis team.
