Comets of the Week - September 23, 2024
The Co-Female Comet of the Week is senior women’s volleyball player Teagan Giannunzio, of Marshall, and graduate of Marshall High School. Last week, Giannunzio helped Olivet post a 3-0 record. After not playing in the midweek match, she averaged 33 set assists and 13.5 digs in two matches at the Ohio Christian University Triangular. In the first match against the host Trailblazers, Giannunzio had 34 assists and 11 digs. She followed that with a team-high 32 assists and 16 digs against Salem (W.Va.) University. The totals averaged 11.0 assists and 4.50 digs per set.
The Co-Female Comet of the Week is junior women’s cross country runner Sarah Grove, of Alma, and graduate of Alma High School. Grove finished 15th of 121 runners in the 5K race at the Lansing Community College Invitational. Her time, 20:41.2, was fastest among the NCAA Division III runners in the race.
The Male Comet of the Week is senior men’s soccer player Zachary Stephan, of DeWitt, and graduate of DeWitt High School. Stephan scored the game-winning goal in Olivet’s 2-1 win over Cleary University. The goal was a penalty kick in the 75th minute.
