Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - January 24, 2022

The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is Lillian Albaugh, of Shepherd, and graduate of Farwell High School. With a 41-feet and 5-inches throw, Albaugh finished third overall but first among NCAA Division III student-athletes in the shot put at the Saginaw Valley State University / Doug Hansen Open. She was also eighth overall, second among NCAA DIII competitors, in the weight throw with a 40 feet and 4-3/4-inches toss.

The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is Deontay Thomas, of San Antonio, Texas, and graduate of Southside High School. Thomas averaged 4.75 kills per set in OIivet’s first four matches of the 2022 season. In the Comets’ home-opener against Calumet College-St. Joseph (Ind.), he had nine kills. Thomas followed that with 15 kills against both Marian (Wis.) University and Millikin (Ill.) University and wrapped up the week with 18 kills against Adrian College. The 18 kills against Adrian broke the school single-match record for kills in a three-set match and tied for the third-most in a match regardless of number of sets played.
